A life time spent on boats

Born in New Zealand, however by age two, Tom's family had relocated to Papua New Guinea. Growing up in New Guinea had its benefits and challenges. 

Spending the weekends and holidays on the family yacht cruising, fishing and diving the remote islands of New Guinea was certainly one of the benefits.  

This life style engrained the core skills that would help Tom in his  future career.

Upon moving back to New Zealand in 1996, Tom took a course in marine studies and once finished, obtained a boat building apprenticeship at Tournament boats and charters. 

Little did he know, that the boat he was building would lead Tom on a 20 plus year adventure through the South Pacific. 

Since the launch of Ultimate Lady in August 98', Tom worked his way up through the ranks; from deck hand to gaining his Captains and Engineers licenses. 

In 2001, Tom was offered the position of Captain.

Tom has operated the Ultimate Lady through out the South Pacific. Fishing  the East coast of Australia to Lizard Island, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Coffs Harbour, Vanuatu, Fiji, New Caledonia, Tonga, Samoa, New Zealand, Norfolk Island. 

The last 11 years have been spent extensively exploring remote French Polynesia. The Marquises, Societies, Australes, Gambier, Tuamotus and Rapa in the very south. With a growing family in Tahiti, Tom now call's French Polynesia home.

Having explored the South Pacific and  far reaches of French Polynesia on the Ultimate Lady.  Tom wondered if the same could be achieved with a smaller more affordable package.

 A 50 foot sport fisher with the same range as the 90 foot Ultimate lady.  A boat comfortable at sea on long passages, as well as sea anchored at the Wanganella banks and also be manoeuvrable enough for ultra light tackle. 

A Sport Fisher or support tender able to follow its mother ship around the world with out fuel logistics. 

 With his childhood spent on sailing boats and his professional career on Super yachts and Sport Fishing boats big and small.

 He was keen to combine the best of attributes of yachts and sport fishers.  The result is the culmination of a life time spent at sea.
